Derek and Amy Anglemyer, and her parents Ray and Kim Shorette, started West Canyon Nurseries in 2018, a wholesale and retail nursery growing container trees, shrubs and perennials. Operating at the old West Canyon Tree Farm site, the goal was to revive this historic property and bring it back to its former glory.

 

In the same year, Brett Folske bought Dwyer Greens and Flowers, which focused on custom annual pots and hanging baskets. Dwyer's was another long established business in the community, going on 20 years, with deep roots in the valley.

 

Brett came into the nursery the following summer in 2019, looking for a fruit tree, and everyone hit it off. Both having young families, it was nice to have someone to talk about the highs and lows of owning your own business while raising kids.

 

This turned into a great business relationship where they were growing plants alongside each other and collaborating. They knew eventually the businesses would overlap, but would cross that bridge later. Amy came up with a crazy idea of combining forces, creating an amazing team, and growing together. Through months of talking and planning, the merger became a reality in January 2025.

 

A new greenhouse was built at the retail location, and they had their busiest season yet! With expansion at their greenhouse growing operation in Rifle, they are excited to continue growing quality plants for the customers of this valley and beyond.
